DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH A SOCCER BALL WEIGHS?


An official soccer ball, according to the regulations of FIFA (International Federation of Football Association), must have very specific specifications.

A regulatory ball must have a weigth between 410 and 450 grams at the start of the match.

Its circumference should be between 68 and 70 centimeters, with a diameter between 21.65 and 22.29 centimeters.

The  pressure will be 1.6 and 2.1 atmospheres (600- 1,100 g/cm2 ) at sea level.

All  balls used in international competitions must meet these characteristics, and usually pass exams in the laboratory prior to being used.




Since  its invention, the ball has undergone an evolution in terms of shape, weight and manufacturing materials used.

Its was in 1970, during the world cup in mexico, when a soccer ball was used very similar to the one used today.It was made of leather and had 32 pieces sewn by hand. it was also the first black and whiteball; fact that facilitated to follow the trajectory of the ball to the  spectators through the televising retransmissions.
