MEASURES AND DIMENSIONS

From time to time it is an obligatory comment among soccer fans that one court is larger than another or, on the contrary, how small the dimensions of a field can be.

Why are there larger soccer fields than others? Are there official and defined measures? Doubt has always been installed among fans who watch football week by week. Now the answers are yes and no.

On the one hand, there are official measures for this issue of trade-offs. These are delivered by the governing body of football in the world, FIFA. But at the same time there is a no in this explanation which is the one that indicates that the teams can choose a specific range of meters, so there is NO single official measure for all clubs.

Specifically, FIFA pointed out in 2006 in its official regulations that, above all, the court must be rectangular, that is, the length of the touchline must be greater than that of the baseline. Also that there are dimensions for local duels and others for international duels.

The measures for a local party are:

Length: Minimum 90 meters - Maximum 120 meters

Width: Minimum 45 meters - Maximum 90 meters

The measures for international commitments cannot be as extreme as the previous ones, these are:

Length: Minimum 100 meters - Maximum 110 meters

Width: Minimum 64 meters - Maximum 75 meters

Other measures of a soccer field:

In the center of the field there is a circumference and it is 9.15 meters in radius.

The areas that “surround the arch”, the small area 5.5 meters long and 7.32 meters long.

The large areas of a soccer field are 16.5 in length and the same distance on both sides from the goal.

Finally, from the baseline to the penalty kick point there must be 11 meters away.

Football games can be played on natural or artificial grass. (In case of being artificial, the grass color must be green).
